It’s been a whirlwind week at enTourage Systems but I didn’t want you to miss the news that the enTourage eDGe was included in a segment on NBC’s Today Show on Friday August 27th.
Tech expert Steve Greenberg’s segment focused on back-to-school technology. He called the enTourage eDGe “amazing” and said that it has a touchscreen notebook on one side, with an e-reader on the other. Steve demonstrates the annotation feature while simultaneously mentioning that consumers can find over a million books from Google.

The following are known issues in this release:
· Saving long audio recordings (6 hours +) may cause the application to become non-responsive. Workaround: Select Wait to capture the recording.
· For audio, video and image files added to library through the enTourage eDGe media player, if the author or/and description fields are modified through the media player, they cannot be updated through the Library. Workaround: modify the title also, then the author or description fields can be modified.
· Free Yahoo! email accounts are not supported using the email app. Workaround: use yahoo mail in the browser or alternate email account (gmail, hotmail, paid yahoo accounts).
· Titles of audio, video, images, web links, and web pages do not display on the table of contents when attached to book. Workaround: none.
· In the file browser, if you cancel a file copy to overwrite a file with the same name the destination file is deleted anyway. Workaround: none. Read more...

Unfortunately, we need to delay the next software release by a couple of days. We were working on a compatibility issue with some EPUB books and managed to find a fix just today. We think it is worthwhile to patch this bug before we release. We do not think it will take more than a few days to implement and test the patch. We sincerely regret the delay, but we do believe it is in our customers’ best interest.

New Features
Tablet User Interface (LCD Touchscreen):
Both the LCD or “Tablet” screen and the e-Ink “Reader” screen have new layouts
There is a new Favorites bar at bottom of screen. The default Favorites are Reader, Journal, Library, Browser, Email. You can customize the apps by long-pressing and dragging an icon over the existing one. They swap places.
Switch Apps Button Function
The Switch apps button is now used to switch between open apps on the reader (journal, reader, calendar). [ You can no longer open the journal using just the Switch apps button on the reader side.] To open a Journal, use the Journal app icon on the tablet. Read more...

The next software release for the enTourage eDGe will coming out next week. In it you can expect a much cleaner user interface on both the tablet (LCD) and reader screens. Highlights of the new release include:
- Calendar app
- Projector app (requires USB-VGA adaptor)
- Customizable wallpaper for the reader screen
- Reader screen shutdown to wallpaper using the Switch Apps button
- Reader icons moved to menus, and identified with names
- Support for password-protected PDFs
